Our club has been instrumental over the past few years in making Newman Park a showcase for locals and visitors alike.
Starting with a Liberty Swing** financed by the Variety Club some years ago, the park now boasts an 'access for all' type playground which includes a railway station and platform, a maze decorated by local schools, a teenage exercise/adventure area, an adventure castle, new BBQ facilities and new toilet facilities incorporating disability access.
Add this to the monthly appearance of the Model Railway Society, and you have a recipe for serious relaxation and adventure for all ages and abilities right here in Traralgon.
Thanks to the support of the Victorian State Government, Latrobe City Council and the Latrobe City community, we have made Newman Park a truly valuable regional asset visited by many hundreds of people every week.
** Note: The Liberty Swing is a device that allows people using wheelchairs to enjoy the excitement of swinging. Access to the swing is controlled. A key is available from the Latrobe Visitor Information Centre (41 Princes Street, Traralgon) 7 days, 9am-5pm (Free call 1800 621 409 for more information) or from Traralgon Lions Club - Lion Geoff Neal ph: 03 5174 9354.
